Catherine Warr is in her first year at St Hild, training for Licensed Lay Ministry (Reader Ministry) in the Diocese of Leeds.
‘I've always had an interest in theology and wanted to use my gifts to help the church. LLM offered me a way of developing my theological and pastoral skills in a structured program which would help serve the ministry of the church.
I've found a lot of support, especially among the clergy and congregation of my church. It's also been helpful to build relationships with the other LLMs-in-training as we all bring our unique backgrounds and perspectives to the training and help each other out when needed.
In terms of advice to others, you get out what you put in! If, like me, you love reading, take full advantage of the access to academic materials which the course offers. Do as much of the reading as you can as it will make you a more knowledgeable and well-rounded asset to your church.’
Revd Dr Steve Proudlove, Director of Ministerial Formation and Development at the Anglican Diocese of Leeds, added, ‘In partnering with St Hild we are investing in the future of Licensed Lay Ministry within our communities. LLMs play a key role in the parishes they are called to serve, and high-quality training and formation, such as provided by this partnership, gives a firm foundation for ministry and ongoing development.’
