About Jo

Jo harbidge-SummersJo initially studied for a BA in English Literature and Art at Aberystwyth University, before training and working as a secondary school teacher in West Wales. Her overlapping interests in faith, literary theory and education came together as she completed an MA in Biblical Interpretation in 2016, through London School of Theology.

Sent by the Church in Wales in 2020, Jo trained for ordained ministry at Trinity College, Bristol, where she completed a PGDip in Theology, Ministry and Mission and then began post-graduate research on the theme of missional hospitality. She was ordained in 2022 and has since served her curacy in Chesterfield in the Diocese of Derby, where, alongside parish ministry, she took responsibility for helping to establish a community garden project. An ethnographic study of the community garden now informs her ongoing PhD studies, which she hopes to complete in 2027.

Here at St Hild, Jo is an Academic and Formational Tutor and teaches Biblical Studies and Reflective Practice. She currently combines her part-time role with part-time PhD studies.
