About Ben
Ben studied Theology as an undergraduate at Regents Theological College in England, after working in a hospice. He then served as the Youth Pastor at The Point Church in Mid-Sussex and completed an MRes at Regents, alongside this, focusing on a person's responsibility for sin in the Torah, in dialogue with contemporary theological anthropology. In 2019, he was selected to train for ordination in the Church of England and attended Trinity College in Bristol, where he studied for a PhD in Divinity (University of Aberdeen). His thesis was entitled 'The Agency of Sin in Romans 5-8: Contemporary Pauline Perspectives in Dialogue,' and he was supervised by Jamie Davies (Trinity College, Bristol) and N. T. Wright (Wycliffe Hall, Oxford).
Ben was ordained in 2022 and served his curacy at St John's Bowling in Bradford, within the Diocese of Leeds, during which time he also completed his PhD research. After serving as a guest lecturer and adjunct faculty at various institutions including Regents, Trinity College, and St Hild, Ben joined the Academic Team at St Hild in 2025 as the Director of Reader Training. Here, he oversees the training of Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers) and teaches modules in Biblical Studies.
Ben is married to Leah, who is an Associate Vicar at Fountains Church in Bradford, and Priest-in-Charge of St Margaret's, Frizinghall.
