The Graduate Diploma is designed for students who have already attained an undergraduate degree in another subject. It aims to provide a select overview of the major disciplines of theology, ministry and mission with an emphasis on higher level modules. It involves 5-8 modules (i.e. 120 credits) and are normally taken over 1-2 years. The award is validated by Durham University. Higher-level graduates may go on to our MA programme. Assessment
Most modules require two assignments of 2,500 words each, or equivalent. Some modules are assessed by essays, others by a presentation or written reflection on Christian practice. The Graduate Diploma may include an extended study project or supervised dissertation in an agreed subject area.
Requirements
Successful applicants will normally have an upper second-class honours degree. Graduates in subjects other than theology and students who have successfully completed a Diploma of HE in theology may be admitted to the programme. However, especially for mature students, prior professional experience will be taken into account as well as educational qualifications. English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with no component under 6.0) or equivalent. Prior reading and a preparatory essay may be required before admission to the course.

Module options include Introduction to Old Testament, Introduction to New Testament, Bible in Context, Biblical Theology, Church History, Christian Doctrine, Mission and Evangelism, Faith and the Environment, Church Planting, Ethics, Disability Theology, Spirituality and Discipleship, Mission on the Margins, Worship, Chaplaincy, Leadership, Preaching and Reflective Practice. Language modules in Greek and Hebrew are also available.
